When movies or shows cast a lead female role, they worry about loosing the male viewers. One way to keep the male viewers is cast beautiful women that wears tight clothes. The movie Haywire lead actress is Gina Carano, a professional M.M.A. fighter. You think having an attractive women who is a professional M.M.A fighter as a lead actress in an action movie would be a hit right? Wrong, the movie failed at the box office, only making 9 million dollars on opening night. Who knows why the movie did so bad on opening night? Maybe a M.M.A fighter wasn't meant to be on the big screen.

But there are many other movies with a female lead role that are very popular among the male viewers. The movie Kill Bill has the lead role played by a female which was very popular to male and female viewers. Even though she is wearing a tight biker outfit, she does not show any cleavage and she is not portrayed as an sex object.

If the movie has an attractive female for the lead role, doesn't mean it will be popular for male viewers. I can think of many movies that had an beautiful women as the lead role that were not popular like Halle Berry in Catwomen. The male viewers want to see great acting, special effects, not just an attractive women.
I agree, if movies attributes to the beauty and sexiness of women that play lead roles in films- it will attract a wide variety of viewers such as males and even females. The reputation for women is formed by showing off their sexy bodies and the outfits that are appealing to the audience.
